Hot Dogs
Having an active dog means many walking trips along the Danube Canal and play time at the local dog parks. If the language barrier is broken, then I have the pleasure of lengthy conversations with delightful people who want to know more about our Dasha. Recently I was mentioning to another dog's human that my nine-month old puppy still has some separation anxiety. She cries a bit when she is left alone. But when I leave her outside a store, which is a normal happenstance here in Vienna, she is fine. She likes to lie down and watch the people go by, patiently awaiting my return. The woman then warned me not to do that as dogs, especially French bull dogs, get kidnapped and taken to Hungary to be bred and sold in Europe. That triggered a bit of alarm regarding a recent incident involving a stranger and Dasha. A man who claimed to be a tourist wanted to take a picture of Dasha with his smart phone. I thought nothing of it--was of course flattered for the interest paid to my Taigan. After hearing the "hot dog" warning, I wondered, Could this be some unsavory interest in my puppy? Now I feel a little nervous about popping in a store for a couple things while out on one of our wonderful walks in the city. :-(
