Dasha is a Diva
Today we docked in Southampton in England. Before exploring the city on a quest for a pint and fish and chips (we were only 50% successful). I went down to the kennels to wish Dasha a good morning. When I got there, I saw the ship's captain (or commodore as he is known to Cunard) was petting our puppy and talking with JJ's parents. I am sure that only a handful of people get to see him when cruising. I guess that was another benefit of having Dasha travel with us.
Later in the day, a newspaper reporter was coming to do a story about Cunard's kennel and its master, Dennis. The dogs (whose humans signed away the rights to be photographed) were taken away to the kennel to a larger deck area to be photographed for the article. We were not there to witness that, but were told she was such a calm, mellow dog during the whole ordeal--a real professional. We managed to catch the reporter and the cruise rep as they were finishing up their interviews. They asked us all sorts of questions about the dog and the breed (as usual), and asked for our names. The rep from Cunard gave me her business card when I asked when/where the article would be published, and told me to contact her in the coming weeks to find out. I think she will be featured in the Telegraph.
After we went ashore and returned, we went to the kennel in the early evening during the sailaway celebration. This time it was incredibly crowded with all the dogs and owners who embarked here in Southampton. Dasha was a little sad and no longer the center of the kennel universe.
